Just votekick him first if he gets whiny  Tongue

Wait, is it possible to make the game auto-kick whoever starts the kick vote? Not necessarily ban them, just boot them from the game.
3  Server / Zombies / Difficulty level adjustment on: March 31, 2011, 06:29:26 PM
Well, since we don't have any good mid-level zombies (unless some are in the works, I don't know if Hack's still working on the mod   Tongue ), I thought that the difficulty level should be slightly adjusted to favor lower levels. Seems to me that every time I log on I swamp any unfortunate lvl 1s with Demons and Mummies and they're completely helpless. And we probably don't want any potential new players to be turned off by the copious amounts of rape that ensue when a high lvl is online...
4  Server / Zombies / Re: Mid LvL zombies recomendations on: January 31, 2011, 11:29:35 AM
I object to the last two, the zombie gunners are what makes me hate the Decaying Zombie server, and I don't think we need any more super-explosive zombies Tongue

Actually, renaming the cursed pharaoh into a witch would be fitting, since you know, she's a witch so she can curse you...

I don't think it's possible to make zombies speed up unless you give them a speed gun, but then you need to sacrifice a gun and have lag.

Okay, here's a go at making more mid-level (and perhaps not so mid-level) zombies which don't explode like a blockbuster when you breathe on them. Of course, all ideas are tentative and subject to change.

Bandit - a zombie with a SOCOM and a fair bit of health. His gun isn't extremely powerful but he's really accurate. Think of it as something in between an Elite Zombie and a Slicer Zombie: fairly tough to kill, ranged attack, but doesn't instantly kill you if he hits.

Gunslinger - basically a tougher version of the Bandit, armed with deagles.

Ghost - a zombie which can go invisible, has a moderate amount of health and furthermore can negate some damage done to it (essentially evade bullets). Its attack isn't very powerful (uses fists, but doesn't KO like the Vortex), but instead drains a % of the player's mana with each hit.

Wraith - a tougher version of the Ghost but also drains souls in addition to mana.

Undead Pharaoh - expanding on my idea from the other cursed zombies thread. This can even be applied to the Mummy and forgo adding a new zombie, but either way: a tough zombie with a chainsaw. Hard to kill and fairly easy to evade if you don't want to deal with the consequences (and also to prevent your PSG from killing it easily), but has a good chance of giving SP and a fair bit of exp, too. Upon death has a small chance of cursing the player. The curse can have a random effect such as: decrease your damage output (% decrease depends on level of player if possible, to make it fairer), drain some/all mana and/or souls, convert your mana and/or souls into damage dealt to you (one-time effect, not constant damage), deactivate all spells (passive and active) for a short time, and anything else which can hamper the player but not necessarily result in imminent death.

Okay, I think we need to make up some non-explosive mid-level zombies now! Every time I play there's like 5 Ghouls and a bunch of Nitros rushing through the corridors blowing everything the hell up whenever a player looks at them wrong Grin

Well personally I don't imagine him to be much worse than the Turncoat, who'll kill you if you or your PSG fatal-hits him. IMO the curse should have a chance of getting you, not a guarantee.

Alternately, to make it less annoying the curse can have several different effects it picks at random, e.g. it could drain some/all of your mana/souls OR decrease your damage output OR deactivate your skills.

I think many of the higher-end zombies are already hated to infinity and beyond, I don't think this'd make that much of a difference  Tongue

A basic idea(s) I thought up while slaughtering zombies yesterday. Name and all effects are obviously tentative and subject to change to iron out any problems.

Cursed Soul - a relatively weak zombie (hitpoints like your average zombie or perhaps an Elite Zombie), armed with a chainsaw (or not... or a knife). Doesn't stand out unless killed, in which case there's a chance that the player inflicting the killing blow is cursed. The curse deactivates all the player's skills and dispells PSGs and mines for a short period of time. Player's damaged is halved or even quartered (perhaps include several iterations of the zombie with increasingly powerful curses).

I thought votekick was disabled? I've seen the kick vote come up sometimes but it didn't result in a kick...
12  Server / Bugs / Re: Invisible gostek at maxed server on: December 23, 2010, 04:54:23 PM
Definitely not just me, I believe Elefaent was one of the people who said he had the same thing happen to him once or twice, and it seems to consistently pop up when there's 7 people playing and an 8th joins. It might be due to lag, I guess, it would make sense if it's 7 people with high ping.
13  Server / Bugs / Invisible gostek at maxed server on: December 23, 2010, 12:53:53 PM
This is a weird bug I noticed when I join the server when it's got 7 people in it. My gostek and my screen name will disappear every 10 sec or so and I can't control him anymore. I'll see the arrow indicator which points to where the soldat is supposed to be, but the screen will no longer follow it and it'll just slide off screen. I can neither shoot nor die, apparently. If I have a PSG when my gostek goes invisible, my kills sometimes show up as green as if I were a spectator. If I use chat it won't show my name in the [] beside the words.

If I join spectators/blue team and then rejoin alpha, my gostek will reappear, but then usually disappear again within 10 sec, although sometimes it takes longer. The only way to permanently fix this is to wait until another player quits so there's less than 8 people on the server, then quit and rejoin quickly so I don't end up being the 8th. Some other players on the server have confirmed they sometimes get the same problem.
14  Server / Skills / Summon Barret/Minigun/M79 on: December 17, 2010, 06:38:50 PM
Well, as I already mentioned in another thread, I think it'd be nice if there were skills to summon the Minigun and M79, just because, you know, it'd be fun. However, since these are two of the most powerful weapons on the server I figured they should cost something extra than normal summons, so why not make them cost some SP in addition to mana and souls? With the lack of skills to learn at higher levels, the SP just accumulates pointlessly, it seems, so why not give it another reason to exist by making it a requirement for some summons?

On a related note, I thought the Barret needs its move-accuracy penalty removed, but this would make it very similar to the Ruger, so how about making the Barret cost some SP too? This way the Ruger and Barret would basically be similar in function, just different in cost: a weaker, cheaper rifle and its stronger, more expensive cousin.
15  Server / Bugs / Re: Suicides on: December 17, 2010, 06:22:04 PM
I think it's mostly because you/your PSG fatal hits a Turncoat, so the 6000 dmg or whatever you deal gets thrown right back at you and smites you.

But on a related note, there's a known bug that makes you lose health when you hit a zombie, so sometimes when using the M79 or LAWing a group of zombies you can get killed. Also, sometimes when the Demon is passing by but doesn't actually shoot at me, I get flamer-suicided anyway. Doesn't happen too often, though.
